Week 12 Preview: The Hot Stove

11/22/2014, 2:30pm CST
By Joe Barrett

The Playoff hunt is alive and well

The North Conference has 12 of the 14 teams left still eligible for playoff competition with no one yet to clinch their spot. The magic number for Joe Bu. and Travis sits at 1 game to clinch. Joe had a clutch win last week over Travis to move themselves into a tie for first currently (though Travis holds the tie-breaker). He also took down the weekly prize thanks to his Monday night performance. Nick put himself into more solid footing with his 130.4 score and moves into sole possession of the 3rd spot. There is a 3 way tie for the 4th spot at 12-10 with Brandon leading the tie-break. His 2-0 performance last week moved him ahead of both Paige (1-1 last week) and Alex (0-2 last week). Sitting in 7th alone at 11-11 is Shawn/Ian while there are 4 teams right behind them at 10-12 and hungry for that last spot. Rose is still in the hunt at 9-13, I've seen crazier things happen so I wouldn't count her out yet. With 85% of the league in the hunt this week will be pivotal for everyone to show they can make it in. Every point counts.

The South Conference is a little more established with our only owner that has clinched so far, Phia with his 18-4 record. Kevin is still going strong at 16-6 in second place, but has gone 1-3 in the past two weeks while scoring above the league average and has his remaining matchups versus playoff hopefuls. He only needs 1 win over these 2 weeks to clinch a spot in the postseason. Joe Ba. sits in 3rd place at 15-7 and went 2-0 last week to gain some ground while also beating out Phia for his first conference loss of the season. Cory is rounding out the playoffs currently with his 14-8 record all by his lonesome but he also has some very tough matchups in the next 2 weeks as all of them are in the playoff hunt. Ryan brings in 5th place by himself with 13 wins and a game back from 4th on the season currently. Scott sits at 12-10 in the 6th spot and has to have a strong showing over the next 2 weeks. Alec K at 11-11 is currently in 7th place and would like to get back into the playoffs to defend his championship season last year and winning out is attainable. Sitting at 10-12 is both Alec G and Pete who have to win out and have lady luck on their side as their hopes are in the hands of others losing their critical games to make it in. There's 2 weeks left and 4 games a piece, there can be a lot of movement left in the standings.

Good luck to everyone.

Week 11 Trophy Winners

Featured Matchup for Week 12

This featured matchup is a Northern Conference battle for the final playoff spot. Brandon hopes to hold on to his position in the standing and Nate is looking to gain a foothold on the rest of his season and finish up strong. Brandon is favored by 19.2 points but that can be easily made up as Nate has performed better against his projections this season than Brandon has. Of note, Nate has also taken the highest score of the week twice this year.

Weekly Challenge Results - Double Vision

Joe Bu. brings in the winning roster at 111(.4) points. This next weeks challenge is:
