A look ahead to week 1

A Rumblin' in the Fungin

I'd like to welcome you to the first week of the 2014 season. There's a lot to take in, but there's not a lot of time before the season starts. There are some new features to the site I'd like to point you out too:

First, on all of the player pages, along with the schedule and standings page you'll find a season switcher in the top right. This will allow you to seemlessly switch between seasons to browse through the history of the Sport Ngin Cup™ (patent pending: No. 7483828). It'll also save the season you're looking at so you can change pages without the need to change the season all the time (woohoo!).

Secondly, on the schedule page, on the right side you can toggle between block and list view. While not really a new feature, I wanted to point out that you can get some deeper matchup stats by clicking on a game. I will be beefing these up a bit more to show some more info, namely head-to-head history, so keep an eye out. You'll also notice that in-conference games are bordered green while the non-conference games are bordered gold.

Thrice, we will be doing weekly challenges this year for the $10 winnings as opposed to doing the top score like last year. They will be similar to the like of - The Peyton Manning Challenge: Be the player to start a QB that scores closest to 18 pts this week. This list will be posted prior to the Thursday Night game once I finalize all the challenges.

Finally, If you do see anything out of whack or even have an idea for a feature give me a holler. I plan on adding in some historical records too.

Now back to our scheduled programming.

Featured Matchup for Week 1

In the tightest matchup being predicted by ESPN, a whopping 0.3 points separates what hopes to be a battle royale. Brownson (0-0, 0-0) has 6 of his 9 players playing after 3pm on Sunday into Monday while Paige (0-0, 0-0) looks to jump out to an early lead with 7 of her 9 finishing by those 3pm games. Neither team shares a projected starting player in this non-conference bout to establish who earns first right to open the fridge in the Fungin™.

Another matchup to look out for: The Battle of the Nether Regions between Va-jay-jay Cutler (0-0, 0-0) and Mike Vick in a Box (0-0, 0-0).

The Rest of The League

For those who are new, you may notice on your player page a Performance Percentage. This is based off of the projected points that ESPN expects you to score (as of ~12pm on Sundays) and the points that you actually score. Pretty simple concept, but don't take it as gospel, Tom Brady is projected to score 12 pts against Miami and I'm sure he'll drop 40pts to help me defeat Shane.

Here's a look at the projection break down by ESPN:

It looks to be a great season and I hope you all enjoy the ride to the playoffs.
